While the big weddings are having to be postponed in the face of this pandemic, the celebration of love and commitment doesn’t have to be. As couples face the reality of having to reschedule their wedding to later date when it’s deemed safe to all gather in large groups again, many couples are opting to still say “I do” in a smaller, simpler way- the intimate or petite wedding is a celebration that says you don’t need the big wedding or the fancy dress to make this commitment feel special.
Pivoting from your long-held dream of the big wedding with all of your friends and family surrounding you to an intimate ceremony of just immediate family isn’t easy, but I’ve been fortunate to bear witness to three of these ceremonies so far (with more planned for this Summer) and I have to say, they have been equally as beautiful, memorable, celebratory and so very special.
This intimate wedding took place on May 2nd, the day that this couple was supposed to have a big, grand wedding in Pasadena, CA. As the bride and groom tell it, they already had the wedding date engraved on a family heirloom champagne coupe they were saving for their toast at their reception. So really, how could they postpone the ceremony? 🙂
In all seriousness, though, it took some work to pivot from a big wedding to a small backyard affair and they were luck to have wedding planner Katie of Intertwined Events at the helm to take on this shift. It was pulled off without a hitch and I know it turned out to be such a beautiful event for Emily, Matt and their families.
