Earlier this week, I posted the first part of Lauren & AJ’s engagement session shot at Union Station. It was the perfect setting for a more formal, vintage-inspired shoot. However, when I met with them for the first time, they also mentioned how they really loved the idea of taking photos in a field. I immediately started thinking about how we could style a field to have a little of that mid-century inspiration they love.
I had so much fun preparing for this session! Thanks to Lauren and AJ for providing the initial inspiration and for giving me creative freedom to make it a reality!
Lauren had this fabulous connection that allowed us to explore a massive warehouse of fine antique furniture here in LA. When she and I saw these turquoise 1950s Eames chairs, we both immediately fell in love and were able to borrow them and that table for the shoot!
AJ picked out the flowers for the table the morning of the session… how perfect that they match the orange on Lauren’s dress and contrast sooo perfectly with the chairs. Oh, how I love that color palette. 🙂
Cracker Jacks are special to Lauren and AJ and the story of their engagement, so we had to incorporate them into the shoot a little bit..
I want this chair for my place. 🙂
The phone is from my mom’s collection of vintage pieces. It’s handy to have a mom as a collector of fun vintage pieces when planning shoots like this. 🙂 The record player was AJ’s idea- he tracked one down at a vintage shop and Lauren was even thinking about incorporating it into their wedding in June since they both love music from that era.
I adored these old records they brought along! To anyone planning an engagement session… props are always fun and provide so much inspiration!
Lauren- you are so beautiful.
Hard to believe this exists in Los Angeles! 😉
Lauren & AJ- I had SOOOO much fun with you both! Thank you, thank you for letting me go crazy with this… your wonderful relationship and personalities were a great inspiration to me. I’m so looking forward to your wedding!
Heather!!! You killed it! You took our cloudy vision and made it into this crisp, well executed art! Thank you for putting so much into our session – from the design, to the set up, to the inspirational photos, I love it all! We couldn’t be happier…you are ridiculously talented and we are so happy you will be shooting our big day.
Heather, this is just gorgeous! So unique and fresh – love it! Wonderful post.
omg I absolutely adore these! You did a fantastic job! I love your work! I run a wedding site called Hi-Fi Weddings, and it’s all about music at wedding and ideas to inspire. I’d love to share this session with my readers, if you are ok with it. Of course I’ll link back to you and everything! Please email me at hifiweddings@gmail.com if it’s ok to feature ’em!
