Two years ago, after posting about looking for a new intern, I received an email from a young woman who had a professed love for wedding photography and was looking to gain more knowledge of the industry. There was something about her email I liked, and when I met with her in person, I liked her even more. She had a sweetness about her, and an eagerness to learn despite not having a lot of experience that I remember having when I first started shooting years ago. I asked her to be one of my interns and over the course of those few months, I got to learn more about her as a person and we became friends. Not only did we have photography in common, but we found that we just got along well and had fun working together. Ever since, I have continued to work with her and train her and it’s been so awesome being able to see her work improve and to see her gain more and more confidence in her work.
I was so happy for her when I found out that her boyfriend Daniel had proposed, and honored when she asked me to be her wedding photographer. Not only was I excited about traveling to her parents’ ranch in Texas where they would be having the wedding, but I had been hearing about the wedding plans all along the way and knew it was going to be a beautiful and really fun party- emphasis on the the party. 🙂
Dearest Gabby, I’m so happy for you and Daniel and was so happy I was able to be there to witness and document your awesome day. These are my favorite images of the many, many images we captured that day.
A special shout out to my second shooter, Dallas photographer Bradford Martens. It was great to have you along that day!
Louboutins for the ceremony and cowboy boots for the reception. Love!
Married!
Oh hey, gorgeous!
Gabby brought all this pottery back from her on a recent trip to Mexico- so cool.
I loved the mariachi band.
A Mexican wedding requires tequila shots. Lots and lots of tequila shots.
Cowboy hats everywhere!
I have honestly never been to a wedding where there were nearly three times as many people at the end of the night than at the beginning. Seriously, this was a party that drew crowds from far and wide to the-middle-of-nowhere Texas. So. Fun.
One of my favorite parts of the reception was when Gabby’s brother brought out the lasso and made my jaw drop with how he could spin that thing. That’s a true art form and the whole crowd loved it.
The traditional lassoing of the bride and groom. Brave.
This tradition is called “la vibora,” or “the snake,” and is part of their garter and bouquet toss tradition. It got crazy up in there.
Then they throw the groom up in the air a few times…

Gabby and Daniel – Thank you so much again for having me be a part of your wedding day. Truly, I have never witnessed anything like it and it was fantastic! I hope you enjoy these images and enjoy reliving that special, crazy day! Love you guys! xoxo
