It was a gorgeous day in late spring when I drove north from LA to photograph this Santa Ynez engagement session at Kestrel Park, a magical property Roselyn & Antonio rented for the afternoon. I had always wanted to do an engagement session on this property, and was so looking forward to what I knew would be a beautiful afternoon with them roaming the grounds of this special place.
I knew from conversations with their planner (the lovely Nina Moore) that Roselyn had impeccable taste. I was so excited to see what she had chosen to wear for the session and especially loved how the first dress she wore played off the stunning colors of the flowers in bloom. The outfits a client wears can really do a lot to set the tone of the whole shoot and often inspires how I create images during a session, so I love when clients spend a little extra time curating looks that really feel like how they want the images to feel. Thanks to Marla Nayamdorj of Marla & Co., her hair and makeup were perfect, too, and it all came together to make this session one of my very favorites ever.
It’s not a Santa Ynez engagement session without a little time in the golden hills of this beautiful area. Creating images in this landscape at sunset? It’s heaven!
I love photographing engagement sessions for so many reasons, but they’re especially fun when the clients are just as excited to create some really special and beautiful images as I am. Thank you, Roselyn & Antonio, for trusting me with your vision for this session- I had the best time and will forever fondly remember this evening together!
