I have been using Instagram for a couple years now and have loved being able to document my life that way. I use it to connect with friends and family and to share images from my day- from the very mundane (you know, the occasional gratuitous photo of of my coffee cup in the morning) to the personally special. Once my girl Charlotte was born, I felt instantly more protective of many of those personal moments and didn’t feel good about sharing all of those photos on a public account, so I made that account private and only shared my posts with a relatively small circle of people I know personally.
However, with the growth of Instagram, I started to feel like I was missing out on being able to connect with people beyond my personal social circle. I mean, Instagram is about sharing photos, and I’m a photographer, so naturally I want to share photos with people all over and it’s an amazing forum in which to do that. From people in the wedding industry I haven’t met, to people who just appreciate seeing my images… So, a few months ago I created a second Instagram account for my photography work and all things related and finally feel like I can connect with new people in this way – I love it. It was initially an experiment to see if I’d be able to keep up with it, but so far I’m loving it and often post there more frequently than I am able to blog here.
