Something Old into Something New: A Styled Shoot

Last month, I teamed up with Yelena Johnson of The Stylish Soiree to style and produce a shoot for Nonpareil Magazine, an online source of inspiration for brides. The theme of the issue was “Something Old Into Something New” and our goal was to come up with a look that featured vintage elements that are so popular these days, but with a modern twist. I have always been drawn to modern design, but I love the look and feel of contrasting vintage accents against that modern backdrop.

We had an incredible team of ladies that contributed to this shoot and it was incredible to see it all come together the day of the shoot. A true dream team of creative, talented, professional women.

Flowers and table arrangements: Krista Jon of Couture Designs – so delightful and super talented

Hair & Makeup: Fiore Beauty – always amazing and they all have such a great vibe

Vintage dresses: Shareen Vintage Los Angeles – amazing inventory of vintage clothing

Jewelry and gloves: Handmade by Yelena – super talented

Suit: Hugo Boss

And, of course, thanks to our awesome models Lenny and Emily! They were so great to work with- great energy and positive attitudes. 🙂

We started with some portraits at the LACMA Urban Light Sculpture. I love that place. This dress from Shareen Vintage was gorgeous- Yelena and I both fell in love immediately when we found it on the racks of their warehouse. And Lenny’s slate gray suit from Hugo Boss was the perfect complement.

A close up of the amazing makeup done by Fiore Beauty on the left. On the right: the black demi-gloves Emily is wearing were handcrafted by Yelena out of a pair of old black leather gloves. These were her vision to help modernize the very vintage, delicate dress. She trimmed them with a pale blue-lined brass zipper. Visit the feature in Nonpareil to learn more about how these were made. Love. this. look.

Krista’s asymmetrical bouquet was stunning! The colors went so perfectly with the dress and was the perfect mix of delicate and modern.

One of my favorites…

We created a second look as the reception look. A smaller bouquet alternative on the left. On the right: the amazing necklace made by Yelena out of old strands of pearls to go with the reception/party dress.

The amazing table details… I adored the mix of very modern, bold vessels with with the more classic, ornate accents.

I had such a great time on this shoot! Thanks again to everyone who helped- you are all amazing. 🙂
