My passion is always to create. In 2020, as the pandemic limited the wedding industry’s ability to do what we love, I turned to my friend Robin, event designer and planner of RMBO Collective, to see if she wanted to dream up something beautiful with me. To my delight, she said yes and once we confirmed that The Revery LA would be the venue, we started sharing ideas of a neutral, luxe, and modern styled shoot where softness would play in a hard space, where light would dance in shadows, and where thoughtful and unique details would enhance the fashion-centered imagery.
Thanks to the amazing team of vendors who agreed to create with us, our vision for this Winter Shadows micro wedding editorial shoot came to life and today it’s being featured on Style Me Pretty on it’s front page! Working with other talented creatives is always good and I’m so honored the SMP saw the beauty in what we created together. Thanks also this colored acrylic powder from Glitterbels which is an easy-to-use formula for creating the perfect bead every time!
As Robin explains: “We stripped away the fanfare of weddings of the past in favor of the intimate moments for the couple to share, like getting ready together, sharing a meal, cutting their wedding cake, enjoying their first dance, toasting to their union. The stationery tells the story to their loved ones, who would be celebrating and wishing the brides well from afar.
Here are some of my favorite images that tell the story we wanted to tell: a micro wedding that, while small and intimate in guest count, was full of beauty, love, and thoughtful details to make the celebration still feel big.
Robin of RMBO Collective had this image of floor-to-ceiling fringe curtains on one of her inspiration boards and immediately I knew we needed something like them in the shoot. She was able to create these out of something she bought online and with that convinced me she’s a genius. This fringe became a consistent element through the design of the shoot and was SO much fun to photograph.
Lotus & Ash has designed a few of the invitations for my real weddings in the past and I always love her modern take on really good, classic design. For this shoot, she took our fringe idea and color story and made a such a great invitation suite to set the tone.
Ellamah Floral Design created some modern pieces to adorn the table.
Gowns were provided by Lovely Bride LA, who were so wonderful to work with and had some amazing options. For this shoot, we wanted sleek but special and this gown definitely checked all of those boxes.
My favorite style element was definitely this fun jacket we put on one of our brides to mix up her look for the first dance moment.
We had a vegan wedding cake made by Yvonne’s Cakes and I can say it was so delicious. 🙂
And that’s a wrap on this one! Looking forward to more editorial shoots soon!
