Malibu Engagement Session – Sarah & Ryan

I had just driven over the hill from the canyon and was approaching a very foggy, cloudy beach for this Malibu engagement session when I got a call from Ryan. He was concerned about the thick fog blanketing the beach and throwing a wrench in our plans to have that classic California golden hour for our shoot. As can sometimes happen, the weather had other plans for this afternoon.

However, I assured him not to worry and that foggy days are actually nice for flattering portrait light. When we arrived at the location, we were pretty much the only people there (another benefit of a cloudy evening on the beach!) and had the best time walking down the rocky coastline. It wasn’t the sunny evening we had envisioned, but the light was so soft and pretty and helped me to create these romantic images that so beautifully documented their sweet time being engaged.

This location just has it all for a engagement photos- pretty beach, epic views from the bluffs, rocky coastline for visual interest… One of my favorite locations for a Malibu engagement session!

This Malibu engagement session was just so fun to shoot. Since shooting this, I have also photographed their stunning wedding weekend and I look forward to sharing all of those images soon!
