I’m Looking for an Intern!

I’m looking for an intern!

The busy wedding season is upon us and I’m now looking for an intern to help out in the office for 2-3 days a week during the busy months! This is a great opportunity for a photography student, or someone who understands photography and just wants to gain more experience and learn more about the behind-the-scenes workings of a photography studio. Only happy, fun people with good attitudes and great work ethic need apply. 🙂 This is an unpaid Internship.

Internship Description: The Intern will have the opportunity to work alongside me on the day-to-day tasks that are required to operate a photography studio- creative, organizational, administrative and marketing tasks will be assigned. While skills in Photoshop, Bridge and the Mac operating system are required, I will be training the Intern in certain post-production skills and techniques, etc.

The Intern’s responsibilities will be to mainly assist with office/production tasks which will include the following: image editing (Photoshop and Bridge), writing emails, fulfilling print orders, office organization, designing client albums, etc.

Skills required to apply:

Intermediate to Advanced-level skills in Photoshop and the MAC operating system

Good organizational skills

Great communication skills – verbal and written

The ideal Intern would be someone who is professional with a great attitude, and has a love for photography, art or design (better yet, all three!). He or she will need to be dependable and responsible, as well as able to complete projects/tasks in a timely manner. Being punctual is also crucial as is having reliable transportation to and from my office in Silver Lake (Los Angeles).

Time commitment: I am looking for an Intern to start at the end of May or beginning of June and, because training time will be necessary, I will ask for a commitment of no less than 3 months.  You will be asked to work 8-10 hours per week- we can arrange your schedule in blocks of 3 or 4 hours on different days, according to your availability.  At the end of the Internship, if you have the interest, I will consider hiring you as a part-time employee based on your skills, your performance as an Intern, and the needs of the studio at that time.

My philosophy on internships: I know an internship should be about learning, so as an Intern for my company we will set aside some time for training on topics of your choice. If you want to learn more about post-production, marketing/branding, shooting, interacting with clients, etc., I will set aside some time throughout your internship experience to do extra training with you in those areas. You will also have the opportunity to assist me on select photo shoots throughout the Summer.

To apply, please answer the following questions and email them to me – heather[at]heatherkincaid[dot]com – along with your resume and a cover letter telling me a little more about yourself and why you’d like this Internship. If you have a Web site or link to a portfolio, I would love to see that as well. 🙂
