As a photographer, I should have known that my child would be one to hate having her photo taken. That’s just the way the world works, right? I mean, I can get great photos of her if I’m super sneaky and quick, or catch her in the exact right mood… but for the most part, this 21-month-old has a mind of her own. And that mind is telling her that having her photo taken is the most annoying, awful thing in the world. At least, being told to smile, or sit still, or stand in a certain place for a photo is the worst thing in the world. But, as a photogapher, I just can’t stop taking photos of her, right?? So, I just have to go with it and hope that that maybe it’s just a phase…
A couple weeks ago, my Moms club (Hold up. Yes, I’m in a Moms Club and yes it’s totally the best club I’ve ever joined. I never imagined myself a suburban mom joining Moms Clubs and taking Mommy and Me classes at the local park, but that’s me these days! I’m SO thankful to these women and their kids who help keep us entertained and social during the week. I’ve met so many wonderful people through this club, people I know I’ll be friends with for a long time.) Anyway- My Moms Club friends and I put together a play date where I took photos of all the kids in this little kissing booth that one of the other moms built. It was a really relaxed photo session, but it was so fun to photograph each of the kids and to be able to share the images with their families. We got some really cute images of all the little ones. And the 5 below are the only images I have of Charlotte. She refused to be behind the booth solo, so I sat back there and had another mom take these shots of us together. They aren’t the smiley, happy images I was looking forward to, but they are such a great representation of how she is in front of a camera right now that I know I’ll loved these photos forever.
