One of the things I love most about photographing weddings is getting to learn how my couples meet. There are so many ways two people can meet and fall in love and I love hearing all of the unique stories. Mariann and John met one year on New Year’s Eve. Mariann’s friends had wanted to leave earlier, but Mariann convinced them to stay out and have fun for just a little bit longer. When they did decide to depart, they ran into some guys from Cal Tech. John was one of those lucky guys. After an exchange of names and numbers, and no doubt some witty banter, they parted each feeling like they had just met someone very special. Years later, they married and this was their big day.
They chose The Athanaeum at Cal Tech as their venue since John was a student there and Mariann grew up very close by. It was the perfect setting for their celebration.

I really loved shooting on the Cal Tech campus! And it was especially meaningful for John since it was where he went to school.
These olive trees made me happy.

They got married in the same church where Mariann’s parents got married. How amazing is that?
Then it was back to the Athanaeum for the party!
