Last year, I photographed Anjana & Vijay’s beautiful, traditional Sri Lankan wedding, and this year I had the honor of photographing her beautiful sister’s wedding as well. These wedding days are long, but so full of love and respect for age-old ritual and traditions, as well as an overwhelming love for family and community. This day was a true celebration of two people coming together, two families coming together, all in the presence of their entire families and larger community. It was so rich with love, history, and was visually so vibrant. Plus, they threw a heck of a party for all 550 guests!
Meera & Jey – Thank you so much for asking me to document your day. I loved every minute of it!
Meera was absolutely radiant on her wedding day. Hair and makeup were done by the talented Kacee Geoffroy.
They chose the Long Beach Hyatt Regency as their venue and they had an incredible view of the Long Beach harbor and the Queen Mary.
The ceremony.
This moment, where the groom places this special necklace on the bride, is the most important part of the ceremony and is always an exciting moment for everyone. They also exchanged rings (which are made specifically after knowing about mood ring colors that help to reflect what kind of person they are) that symbolize they are bonded forever.
After the ceremony, we had a little break while the families rested a bit and everyone changed into their reception outfits. We resumed with family photos later that afternoon. Here is baby Shreya who has already grown so much since I photographed her newborn session a few months ago.
My favorite part of the reception was when Jey’s cousin performed for the couple and all of their guests. So talented!
Such an incredible wedding! Congratulations again to Meera & Jey! xo
These are absolutely stunning! I love every little detail you captured!!
