I love when people inquire with me to set up a photo session just because. We don’t only need great photos of ourselves when we get engaged or married, we need great photos of all those in-between moments as well… those moments that make up the majority of our lives. Zak came up with the amazing idea of gifting Katrina a couple’s session this past Christmas. I had photographed two of their friends before and it was a gift he knew she’d love- something unique that she wouldn’t expect. I absolutely loved hearing the story of how he presented the gift to her and how surprised and excited she was when she found out!
Once the cat was out of the bag, we started planning the session. They frequent a bar in Culver City called Oldfields, and one night while having some drinks they thought of the idea of doing their session there. It was a unique and really awesome place, and it was a place they loved to go. The perfect location for a photo session! I didn’t quite know what to expect before I got there, but when I showed up the day of the shoot I felt like a kid in a candy store! The light, the decor, their clothes…. all a photographer’s dream! I had so much fun with them here!
Here are my favorite images from this part of the session. We did a more casual wardrobe after we shot here, which I’ll be posting in the Part 2 post soon!
How amazing is their styling? Loved.
Such a great vibe here!

the one of them sitting at the table with the window light zigzagging across their face is TO DIE for. so classic. should be a huge print in their house. love this session, heather!!
You are a fantastic photographer.
They look like models for a high-end commercial! Everything is so creative: color, compositions, lighting, location, expressions…. wonderfully photographed. Beautiful couple.
