There’s this amazing place in the desert that I have literally passed thousands of times in my life but have only actually explored once or twice. My earliest memories of it are passing by it on the freeway on the way to visit my grandparents. These massive rocks come out of the ground and create this breathtaking landscape- it’s beautiful. And nearly every time I pass by them I think to myself, “I need to do a shoot there.” After thinking that for years and never actually making it happen, I finally found the right clients who were up for the adventure. And since they lived not far from the place and because he loves to dirt bike and be outdoors, it not only was a beautiful location but it also fit them as a couple. Perfect.
Tawni & Philip will be tying the knot in July. It was great to spend a bit of time with them during the session and get to know them a bit! They are a young, fun couple and I’m really looking forward to their wedding day.
Philip is a proud member of the Army Reserves after having been on active duty for 3 1/2 years, so he wanted to wear his ACU’s for the first part of the shoot. I didn’t even know this when we confirmed the location, but the uniform and location worked perfectly.
These rocks really make you feel small…
One of my favorites from the whole session.
Then after a quick change a explored the other side of the rock.
I love how much they laugh together.
Thank you both so much for trusting me with this location! I had such a great time photographing you and can’t wait for your big day!
